The town of Santa Rita is located in the Municipality of La Independencia (in the State of Chiapas). There are 65 inhabitants. It is the most populated town in the position #52 of the whole municipality. Santa Rita is at 1,089 meters of altitude.

The locality was formerly known as Santa Rita el Cobán, but changed its name a few years ago. In the year 2020, the locality changed its name.
