The town of El Caracol belongs to the municipality of Saltillo (State of Coahuila). The Magical Town of General Cepeda is 45 minutes away by car (42 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #108 in terms of number of inhabitants.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as San Francisco el Caracol. This town decided to change its name in the year 2014.
