The town of Colonia Santa Juquila belongs to the municipality of Ensenada (State of Baja California). There are 629 inhabitants and it is 32 meters altitude. It's a beach town: the beach of Playa Estero is 15 km away. Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #74 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as Parcela Número Ciento Sesenta y Nueve (Rancho Hermanos López), but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2017.
