The town of La Avena belongs to the municipality of Tijuana (State of Baja California). There are 12 inhabitants and it is 339 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Tecate is 28 minutes away by car (27 km). In the list of the most populated towns of the whole municipality, it is the number #454 of the ranking.

The locality was formerly known as Rancho la Avena, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
