The town of El Niño belongs to the municipality of Tijuana (State of Baja California). There are 10,081 inhabitants and it is 200 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Tecate is 32 minutes away by car (25 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #10 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as Fraccionamiento el Niño, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
