The town of Tanchopol belongs to the municipality of Aquismón (State of San Luis Potosí). There are 267 inhabitants and it is 897 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Aquismón is 20 minutes away by car (17 km). It is the most populated town in the position #53 of the whole municipality.
The locality was formerly known as Tam ch´opol (Tanchopol), but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
