One of the most important attractions in San Miguel Regla and in the magic town of Huasca de Ocampo are the Basaltic Prisms, which are tall columns of basalt rock that are the result of the slow cooling of lava flows about 2.5 million years ago.
They are about 40 m high and 0.8 m in diameter, and they were firstly promoted by Alexander von Humboldt in 1803. Here it is a video showing the Basaltic Prims.
