The town of San Carlos (Chiapas) belongs to the municipality of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa. The Magical Town of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa is 10 minutes away by car (7 km). It is the most populated town in the position #713 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as San Fernando, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2020.
