The town of El Medio belongs to the municipality of Salvador Alvarado (State of Sinaloa). The Magical Town of Mocorito is 26 minutes away by car (21 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #48 in terms of number of inhabitants.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Rancho el Medio. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
