Its former name was Rancho el Huasteco.

The town of El Huasteco (Veracruz) belongs to the municipality of Emiliano Zapata. The Magical Town of Coatepec is 63 minutes away by car (52 km). It is the most populated town in the position #93 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Rancho el Huasteco, but changed its name a few years ago. The Mexican authorities declared this village as uninhabited in 2020.
