It was formerly known as Puhu Itzé.

The town of Puhuitzé belongs to the municipality of Aquismón (State of San Luis Potosí). There are 715 inhabitants and it is 250 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Aquismón is 18 minutes away by car (13 km). It is the most populated town in the position #16 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Puhu Itzé, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
