The town of San Lara (Chiapas) belongs to the municipality of Jiquipilas. The Magical Town of Ocozocoautla de Espinosa is 63 minutes away by car (48 km). It is the most populated town in the position #246 of the whole municipality.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Palo Grande. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2015.
