It was formerly known as San Bartolomé Mihuacán.

The town of Mihuacán belongs to the municipality of Ayapango (State of Estado de México). There are 809 inhabitants and it is 2,520 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Tlayacapan is 40 minutes away by car (39 km). In the list of the most populated towns of the whole municipality, it is the number #5 of the ranking.

The locality was formerly known as San Bartolomé Mihuacán, but changed its name a few years ago. In the year 2010, the locality changed its name.
