The town of La Herradura belongs to the municipality of Ocuilan (State of Estado de México). There are 168 inhabitants and it is 2,346 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Malinalco is 16 minutes away by car (15 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #40 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as Manzana Lázaro Cárdenas, but changed its name a few years ago. This town decided to change its name in the year 2010.

The town of La Herradura is located at 0.9 kilometers from Santa Mónica, which is the most populated locality in the municipality, in the East direction.
