The town of Los Limones belongs to the municipality of Guaymas (State of Sonora). It's a beach town: the beach of Playas Empalme is 15 km away. The Magical Town of San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas is 49 minutes away by car (34 km). It is the most populated town in the position #195 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Lico Limón (Los Limones), but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2013.
