The town of La Isla belongs to the municipality of Lerdo (State of Durango). There are 3 inhabitants and it is 1,148 meters altitude. Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #161 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as La Isla de la Fantasía, but changed its name a few years ago. The Mexican census of 2020 decided to declare this community as uninhabited.
