Its former name was Guadalupe Yancuiltlalpan (Gualupita).

The town of Guadalupe Yancuictlalpan (Gualupita) belongs to the municipality of Tianguistenco (State of Estado de México). There are 9,149 inhabitants and it is 2,639 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Metepec is 28 minutes away by car (24 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #4 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as Guadalupe Yancuiltlalpan (Gualupita), but changed its name a few years ago. This town decided to disannex from Santiago Tianguistenco de Galeana in the year 2010. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
