The town of El Arenal (Durango) belongs to the municipality of Lerdo. There are 11 inhabitants and it is 1,137 meters altitude. It is the most populated town in the position #172 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Núñez Herrera, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
