The town of El Lucero (Chihuahua) belongs to the municipality of Ahumada. It is the most populated town in the position #193 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as El Arcoiris, but changed its name a few years ago. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2019.
