The town of Independencia belongs to the municipality of Coxcatlán (State of Puebla). There are 61 inhabitants and it is 1,081 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Huautla de Jiménez is 77 minutes away by car (53 km). It is the most populated town in the position #22 of the whole municipality.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Donato Bravo Izquierdo. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2011.
