The town of Las Palmas (Oaxaca) belongs to the municipality of Santiago Pinotepa Nacional. Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #61 in terms of number of inhabitants.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Colonia Cuauhtémoc. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2015.
