The town of San Joaquín belongs to the municipality of Chapultenango (State of Chiapas). There are 7 inhabitants and it is 560 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Copainalá is 45 minutes away by car (43 km). Of all the towns in the municipality, it occupies the number #29 in terms of number of inhabitants.

The locality was formerly known as Chipilcoíte, but changed its name a few years ago. In the year 2019, the locality changed its name.
