The town of Canalejas belongs to the municipality of Jilotepec (State of Estado de México). There are 4,002 inhabitants and it is 2,717 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Jilotepec de Molina Enríquez is 15 minutes away by car (14 km). It is the most populated town in the position #4 of the whole municipality.

This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Villa de Canalejas. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.
