It was formerly known as Bolívar.

The town of Santo Domingo Bolívar (Chiapas) belongs to the municipality of Las Margaritas. There are 20 inhabitants and it is 1,634 meters altitude. The Magical Town of Comitán de Domínguez is 30 minutes away by car (20 km). It is the most populated town in the position #287 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Bolívar, but changed its name a few years ago. In the year 2017, the locality changed its name.
