The town of El Vampiro belongs to the municipality of Nadadores (State of Coahuila). It is the most populated town in the position #16 of the whole municipality.

The locality was formerly known as Campestre San José de la Merced, but changed its name a few years ago. This town decided to change its name in the year 2010.
