Within the canals of the town of Xochimico, there is a small island which never intended to be a tourist destination. However, it is filled with hundreds of hanging, decapitated, decomposing dolls, dedicated to the soul of a young girl who died too soon under strange circumstances. The girl was found by the owner of the island, Don Julián Santana Barrera, who saw thereafter, near the canals, a floating doll which probably belonged to the girl. He picked up the doll and hung it to a tree, in order to keep the memory of the girl. After that, Don Julián started to hang more dolls in an attempt to please her spirit.
