This town has recently changed its name. It used to be known as Rancho los Horcones. The inhabitants of this community decided to change its name in 2010.

The town of Los Horcones is located at 9.2 kilometers from Estación Naranjo, which is the most populated locality in the municipality, in the Northeast direction. In addition, it is located at 32.2 kilometers from Sinaloa de Leyva, which is the capital of the municipality, in the East direction.
